Leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed the current issues of the bilateral agenda

At the Congress Center of the Avaza National Tourist Zone, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held talks in a tête-à-tête format and with the participation of official delegations.

The Leader of Turkmenistan conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the President of Uzbekistan.

The President of Uzbekistan once again warmly congratulated the country’s leadership and the brotherly Turkmen people on the successful holding of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries earlier this month in Avaza.

Current issues of further expanding and strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the context of implementing high-level agreements were discussed.

The dynamic development of mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas was noted with deep satisfaction.

Since the beginning of this year, trade turnover has amounted to $700 million. A free trade regime has been in effect between the two countries since February, and trade houses are operating in the capitals. Cooperative projects are being implemented in industry, energy, transport, agriculture, water management, and other sectors of the economy.

Joint work is nearing completion to launch the Shavat – Dashoguz trade zone this year.

In preparation for upcoming high-level meetings, the importance of productive sessions of intergovernmental commissions, the Business Council, and several cultural events was emphasized.

The leaders also exchanged views on the agenda of the forthcoming Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. In this context, the practical significance of the current talks in the “Azerbaijan – Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan” format was noted.
