UN Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing Balakrishnan Rajagopal met with officials from law departments during his visit to Uzbekistan.

In particular, a meeting was held with the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Salom Samadov, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement Zokirjon Kholmuhamedov and Deputy Minister of Justice Muzraf Ikromov.

At the meeting, the Special Rapporteur was informed about the support provided to the country’s socially vulnerable segment, including housing, compensation payments to residents of demolished houses, and ensuring the legality of punishment for offenses.

Balakrishnan Rajagopal supported Uzbekistan’s housing policy, expressed positive opinions and shared his recommendations.

The meeting was held in a friendly and constructive spirit.
