Secretary of the UN Human Rights Committee sent a congratulatory message to the Director of the National Center for Human Rights

Director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician Akmal Saidov received an official congratulatory letter from the Secretary of the UN Human Rights Committee Gabriella Hubt on her entry into the position of a member of the UN Human Rights Committee since January 1, 2025.

In her message, Ms. Khabt noted that Academician Akmal Saidov's election at the 40th session of the States parties to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, held on May 29, 2024, is a recognition of his professionalism and contribution to the promotion of human rights on the international stage. His powers as a member of the Committee cover the period from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2028.

For reference: The Human Rights Committee is a UN body consisting of independent experts, established in 1977. This Committee monitors the implementation of the provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights by the participating States. The activities of the UN Committee are aimed at ensuring full observance of all civil and political human rights.
