Switzerland hosted a meeting between the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Eldiyor Toshmatov, and the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Martin Chungong.
During the talks, the parties discussed the preparations for the 150th IPU Assembly, to be held on April 5-9 in Tashkent. Special attention was paid to organizational issues, the event program, and the agenda of meetings of the IPU’s working bodies.
As the IPU Secretary-General emphasized, the successful holding of the jubilee assembly is of particular importance, given its main theme – “Parliamentary action for social development and justice”. He also highly appreciated the large-scale activities carried out by the parliament of Uzbekistan and expressed gratitude for the constructive approach and prompt resolution of emerging issues.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain close cooperation to ensure a high level of organization of the upcoming event in Tashkent.
